NORWALK,
CALIF – In order to support the victims of the September
11th attacks, Cerritos College’s Future Teachers Club
held an American Red Cross Drive to collect relief funds. In
cooperation with the Rio Hondo Chapter, Co-President of the Future
Teachers Club Shannon Ladwig organized the event. The relief drive
was held on the Cerritos College campus for two weeks raising $970
for the victims’ families.
Banners and flyers were spread all over campus as students stood
ready for donations. Envelopes were also available for donors who
wanted to send their donations directly to the Rio Hondo Chapter. On
the last day of the Red Cross Drive there were red, white and blue
ribbons given to donors.
"The ribbons brought everyone over," says
Ladwig. "I was
overwhelmed by the response and the student involvement."
Instructional Dean of Health Occupations Jeanine Nolan, also a Board
Member of the Rio Hondo Chapter, assisted the Club in delivering all
the proceeds to the Red Cross.
