The word is out... if you are pursuing a teaching career Cerritos College is the place to be.
In May 2003, Cerritos College was the first Community College in California to have a group of students complete a standards based, integrated K-8 program, transfer to a partner university program and graduate from a university integrated teacher preparation program having completed their B.A., student teaching and credential. The first group of Cerritos College graduates are now teaching in their own classrooms in Long Beach, Los Angeles, Downey, and Paramount. The Teacher TRAC program offers many services, programs, and pathways for students interested in teaching K-12. For students interested in becoming an elementary school teacher, Teacher TRAC's flagship program is a partnership with California State University Long Beach. As a student in the integrated, standards based Teacher TRAC / CSULB program, you can earn your Bachelor's degree and multiple subject teaching credential, and complete your student teaching. Excellent opportunities are offered through the Cerritos College Teacher TRAC Program. Official Teacher TRAC students receive benefits such as admission to CSULB (upon completion of the lower division general education and pre-major requirements), work experience in K-6 schools, access to Teacher TRAC counselors, training on how to integrate technology into the classroom, participation in conferences for teachers, and access to Teacher TRAC Scholarships. Teaching has to be the best career ever! Where else do you get to see fellow human beings transform before your eyes, grow a vision, or find a vision while unleashing their potential. Students are my inspiration! They are our inspiration! We look forward to helping you on your path to becoming a teacher.
